Dear Everybody,

Am in a depot here waiting to go on. The weather is very cold, with bitter winds blowing, the local people expect snow to fall any day now. Posted several menu cards & a photo I bought of the ship we travelled on, under a separate cover. We have to attend lectures here, morse procedure, Operations etc. Halifax is a badly built town, crooked streets, no fences round houses, no verandahs either houses or shops, all shops have one door to open, some three to keep out the cold. All our buildings in the camp are heated by central heating. Everything here is much dearer to buy than in Australia, there has been no fixing of prices or rationing in Canada, they are just talking about it now.

Love, Ray
