Letter from Reverend Griffiths
From The Rev. Canon C.C. Griffiths, R.D., Dear Mr, and Mrs. Goode, This is only to tell you what a pleasure it has been to me to have met your boy, Ray. I am officiating Chaplain to his unit and quite on his own, he came to see me last night. He was the first of the Australian boys to break the ice and to go out of his way to find my Chaplain’s room, and if the others are of his sample, we shall have nothing to fear for the future. Your son very much impressed me with his high stand-ard and genuine Christian character. He came for a New Testa- ment and we had along chat together. He definitely opened the door of his heart and life on Rev. 3.20. and wrote at the back of his Testament a testimony to that effect He spoke with affection of his home, of his Father’s responsible position, of Ethel, Helen and Margery, of one being a Sunday school teacher, of which he seemed pleased and proud. Also of the Rev.T.H. Reid, to whom he said he owed a debt of gratitude. I have introduced him and his friend to a kindly hospitable lady here in St. Leonards, which I hope will prove a lasting friendship. How little we can do for these boys who have come so far to do so much for us! May God help and strengthen you and give you that peace and courage which comes from His abiding Presence.
Yours very sincerely, ![]() Click to view original (Size - 60kb) |
